Darlings Trailer Review: Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah & Vijay Varma Bringing A Pack Of Mysteries & Dark Comedy

The Darlings trailer, which stars Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma, and Roshan Mathew, was just released by Netflix, and so far, the responses have been positive.

There’s little question about how a Netflix-backed mainstream project with a sparkling star cast like Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, and Vijay Varma could get any better—they’re giving us the best of the best!

Positive responses have been received to the Darlings trailer thus far, and many people are eager to watch the ‘powerhouse’ duo of Shefali and Alia. They portray mother and daughter in the black comedy.

Darlings is Alia’s debut movie as a producer, and the teaser for the dark comedy has undoubtedly fascinated and impressed viewers. The film’s director, Jasmeet K Reen, is also making her directorial debut.

The trailer starts with Shefali and Alia going to a police station to file Hamza (Vijay Varma), the former’s spouse’s missing report. Later in the trailer, it is revealed that the mother-daughter duo is responsible for planning Hamza’s kidnap and even joins Roshan Mathew, aka Zulfi, in the plan.

The mother-daughter duo’s decision to kidnap and torture Hamza in their own home is explained later in the trailer, along with possible legal justifications.

Darlings is marketed as a dark comedy-drama that looks at the life of a mother-daughter duo struggling to find their way in Mumbai despite all odds. They look for courage and love in unlikely places.

Gauri Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Gaurav Verma are the film’s financiers.

On August 5, the movie will premiere on Netflix.

“Since Darlings was also my first production as a producer, and with Red Chillies, it holds a very special place in my heart. We are quite proud and happy with how the film turned out, and we hope it will fascinate and delight audiences globally.” Alia had said in a statement expressing her enthusiasm for the film.
