The federal government of Australia will submit a request for a salary increase for workers in the elder care industry to the Fair Work Commission today. One of the main recommendations of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety’s final report last year was to increase the wages of aged care staff. Independent Senator Jacqui Lambie says workers in the aged care sector are \u201cwell and truly\u201d due for a pay rise.<\/p>\n

The federal government has declared it will call for a “meaningful” pay rise for aged care workers in its submission to the independent wages umpire. The union’s request for a 25% pay raise for 200,000 residential and home care employees is currently being considered by the Fair Work Commission (FWC).
