The Open champion and No. 2 in the world, Cameron Smith, has once more refrained from denying rumours that he has agreed to sign a reputed AU$143 million deal to play on the LIV rebel golf tour.<\/em><\/p>\n

Australian golf legend Greg Norman and fellow countryman Marc Leishman have agreed to participate in the contentious Saudi-sponsored series, according to fellow professional Cameron Percy, who spoke to Melbourne’s RSN radio network on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Smith will reportedly make his LIV Tour debut in Boston next month, according to the London Telegraph. Smith is currently the defending champion of the Players Championship, the premier competition on the PGA Tour. According to a source in The Telegraph, his decision will likely be confirmed during this week’s FedEx Cup playoffs on the PGA Tour in Memphis.<\/p>\n

At a press conference held in advance of the FedExCup St Jude Championship, the athlete with the most recognisable mullet in sports once more wouldn’t rule out rumours that he would become the most well-known player to switch to LIV. The 28-year-old Queenslanders stated, “My objective here is to win the FedEx Cup play-offs.” “I am only here to do that.<\/p>\n

In a surprising turn of events, Smith revealed he planned to compete in the President’s Cup in Charlotte, North Carolina, the following month, which suggests a switch to the LIV series is not as imminent as the Telegraph’s rumours claim. Smith would be prohibited from competing in the Presidents Cup, a PGA Tour event, if he joined the LIV tour.<\/p>\n

Smith told reporters that joining the International Team for the Presidents Cup was something that they had been anticipating for the past three years. “We lost a year due to Covid, and I’m looking forward to being a part of that,”<\/p>\n

After winning the Open in July at St. Andrews, when he overcame a four-shot deficit with a final round of 64, he has finished 20th in the world rankings.<\/p>\n

Smith and Leishman were “gone,” according to Percy, a 48-year-old Victoria-based PGA player. He said as much on Tuesday on RSN radio.
