The Dan Andrews Labor Government is recommending making college and specialized training for nurses and midwives free.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">If you&#8217;re about to finish school and been thinking about studying nursing or midwifery \u2013 go for it.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve got your HECS fees covered. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ZarxO3RAiQ\">pic.twitter.com\/ZarxO3RAiQ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Dan Andrews (@DanielAndrewsMP) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DanielAndrewsMP\/status\/1563752140547698688?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 28, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.premier.vic.gov.au\/making-it-free-study-nursing-and-midwifery\"><strong>Statements Issued<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Premier Daniel Andrews said that Year 12 students considering a career in nursing or midwifery would have their HECS expenses paid.<\/p>\n<p><strong>He added:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The pandemic is putting tremendous strain on every health system in the nation. Giving our dedicated employees more support on the ground is the finest thing we can do for them, which is why this package will train and hire more nurses than before.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>More than 17,000 nurses and midwives will be hired and trained as part of a significant hiring and upskilling push thanks to Victoria&#8217;s health system&#8217;s $270 million boost.<\/p>\n<p>The Victorian government will also cover the cost of more than 10,000 students&#8217; undergraduate nursing or midwifery programmes.
