Ogilvy, a major player in advertising, marketing, and public relations, has named Devika Bulchandani its new global CEO. Devika Bulchandani will succeed Andy Main as Ogilvy’s new global chief executive officer, the advertising agency tweeted.

Devika Bulchandani, who was born in Amritsar and received her education in Mumbai, will join the ranks of Indian-born corporate executives who are in charge of large global firms. Bulchandani graduated from St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai with degrees in English and Psychology before relocating to the US in 1990 to pursue a Master’s degree in communications at the University of South California.

The most recent position held by Bulchandani was that of Global President and CEO of Ogilvy North America. She worked at McCann for 26 years before joining Ogilvy, where she held a number of executive positions, including president of McCann North America. According to a news statement from Ogilvy, Bulchandani will be in charge of all business operations for the creative network’s 131 offices located in 93 different countries.

Devika commented, “I am honoured and humbled to take on this role, and to do it with all our incredibly talented people all over the world.”
