Netflix Adds An Affordable Plan With Ads: Prices & Everything Else to Know

“Basic With Ads” Membership

After suffering a major loss in subscribers early this year, the streaming juggernaut has made a crucial decision. The launch date and cost of Netflix’s new “Basic with Ads” membership tier have been disclosed. It happened six months after the business first suggested the new choice to survive in the competitive streaming market.

The corporation lost more than 200,000 memberships between January and March, the first loss of subscribers since 2011. As a result, the revisions were made. The new plan will be available beginning November 4 and will cost Australians $6.99 monthly.According to a press release released on Friday, each advertisement would last between 15 to 30 seconds, with four to five appearing on average every hour.

Users can only go past the advertisements if they are targeted to a particular demographic.
All of Netflix’s content will have advertisements playing both before and after it, and viewers will only be able to watch it on one device at once. In addition to the advertising, the Basic with Ads package excludes various TV episodes and movies because of licence limitations.

Netflix & Microsoft’s Partnership

A basic (ad-free) subscription costs $10.99, a standard (at $16.99), and a premium (at $22.99), respectively. In July, Netflix declared it would partner with Microsoft to improve technology and sales for its new membership plan.

Following a significant loss of subscribers, this substantial change in membership occurred after Netflix warned shareholders in April that the difficult times would persist. As investors questioned Netflix’s position as the market leader, share prices fell by 35%.
