After passing away from cancer, Bondi Rescue lifeguard Terry McDermott was hailed as a “great man.” One of the “nicest watermen to don a jersey” is Terry McDermott, according to several people.

Terry McDermott, a lifeguard for Bondi Rescue who passed away on Thursday, was hailed as a “selfless man” who helped countless people. From 2009 through 2013, Terry McDermott acted in Bondi Rescue. In 2020, he received a prostate cancer diagnosis. Late on Friday night, Mr. McDermott’s passing was reported on the Bondi Rescue Lifeguards Facebook page. He worked as a lifeguard for more than 30 years, and from 2009 to 2013, he appeared in the reality television programme Bondi Rescue.

“The lifeguard world is mourning the loss of one of [the] nicest watermen to don a jersey,” the post read.

“This selfless man saved countless lives during his career spanning more than 30 years working at many different beaches.

“Terry, Tezzy, T-Mac, Moondoggy McDermott … Thank you for your service to the community.

“Rest easy great man.”

Trent Maxwell, a co-star in Bondi Rescue, posted a memorial to Mr. McDermott on Facebook after his passing. “Rest In Peace ‘Ricky’ Terry McDermott thanks for teaching me the ropes of life guarding, I will miss you mate, never a dull moment you were a great waterman and always had some great Wisdom to share to the young blokes. We had some great times together you will be missed.”
