India, Aus Should Work Together on 6G Technology

On Wednesday, Australian High Commissioner to India Barry O’Farrell stated that Australia and India should collaborate to create an ethical regulatory framework for sixth generation (6G) technology.

At a conference hosted by the Consumer Unity Trust Society (CUTS), O’Farrell emphasized the necessity of collaboration between Australia and India in developing an ethical regulatory framework for the crucial and rapidly developing 6G technology.

He described the two nations as natural partners based on their shared democratic values and similar exposure to state- and non-state cyber actors.

A conference titled “Identifying Elements of Ethical and Regulatory Framework for 6G and Creating Opportunities for India Australia” was organized by the Consumer Unity Trust Society (CUTS) in collaboration with the Australian Risk Policy Institute (ARPI) and the International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT-B).

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Australian Government and the Department of Telecommunication (DoT), Government of India, supported the conference.

He reiterated Australia’s commitment to investing in and working with India to enhance its potential in the cyber-space, recognizing India as a leader in the Indo-Pacific region.
