Indian-origin performers/artists excel in the 2022 Global Australian Award. Every year, the nonprofit organisation Advance offers the Global Australian Awards.
In this year’s Global Australian Award finalists list, which got over 400 nominations, artists of Indian descent occupied a prominent position. Every year, the nonprofit organisation Advance presents the Global Australian Awards. This organisation has expanded since its foundation in 2002 to serve members worldwide and offer Australian expats beneficial possibilities. Anuradha Gupta is the Asia Impact Awardee at the 2022 Global Australian Awards, while Dr. Sonu Bhaskar earned the Australian Global Talent award.
Johanna Pitman said, “As the Global Australian Awards demonstrate, there are so many ways in which individuals connect Australia with the world – through their careers, education and/or migration – all resulting in a more globally engaged Australia.”
These awards, now in their eleventh year, are granted to Australians who are now residing and working abroad, to Australians who have previously developed their careers abroad, to alumni from other countries of Australian universities, and to new immigrants to Australia.
Dr Sonu Bhaskar – Australian Global Talent Awardee
The first Blood Clot Biobank in the world was established in Sydney thanks to Dr. Sonu Bhaskar, a medical entrepreneur and global health pioneer, who received the Australian Global Talent Award. His grandfather gave him the motivation to work hard and overcome financial obstacles in order to pursue a top education while he was still in his native India, where he began his professional career. His late grandfather’s lessons, which instilled in him the conviction that you can always make a difference in people’s lives regardless of your finances, continue to inspire him.
Anuradha Gupta – Asia Impact Awardee
The Asia Impact award went to Anuradha Gupta, the deputy CEO of Gavi (the Global Vaccine Alliance). Millions of children’s lives have been saved thanks to her efforts as a recognised pioneer in global health. She spearheaded the effort to identify “zero-dose” children, with the goal of guaranteeing that every child has access to essential immunisations and that no one is left behind.
Dr Shafali Gupta – Australian Global Talent Finalist
A molecular biologist by training, Dr. Shafali Gupta is the co-founder and co-CEO of the sustainable packaging start-up Uuvipak. By the end of 2025, she wants to replace 1 billion plastic products with eco-packaging that is biodegradable, vegan, and delicious.

Madhavi Shankar – Alumni Award Finalist
This year’s Alumni Award Finalist was the tech entrepreneur Madhavi Shankar, co-founder and CEO of SpaceBasic, one of India’s fastest-growing tech startups. After completing her Bachelor of Engineering at her own university in India, she moved to Australia in 2012. She graduated from the University of Technology Sydney in Sydney with a Master of Engineering Management and a Master of Business Administration (UTS). Through a linked campus experience, her startup SpaceBasic helps colleges and universities drive student success.
