King Charles III pays tribute to Queen Elizabeth II

Overview
King Charles III has made his first official remark since the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth. Tomorrow, he and the Queen Consort will go for London.

From 6 February 1952 until her passing on 8 September 2022, Elizabeth II reigned as Queen of the United Kingdom. She has the longest reign of any British monarch with a total of 70 years and 214 days.

In his first speech as king, King Charles III pays tribute to Queen Elizabeth II. It was a smooth changeover. In only two sentences, Buckingham Palace announced both Queen Elizabeth’s demise and the accession of the new King.

The statement read, “The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family,”
“We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother.”

Charles has ascended to the British throne as the country’s oldest monarch following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. King Charles remarked: “I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world. During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which The Queen was so widely held.”

To officially appoint him King, the Accession Council will convene in St. James’ Palace in London as soon as feasible. Charles will accept the “accession statement,” an oath that joins the churches of England and Scotland.

The proclamation of the new monarch will then be read out at significant locations around the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, including a balcony at St. James’s Palace. The British parliament’s two chambers will be called back to session so that its members can swear allegiance to the new monarch. Anthony Albanese, the prime minister of Australia, will fly to the United Kingdom to speak in tribute to the Queen and most likely welcome Charles as King.
