Public holidays in Victoria for 2023

With 2023 approaching fast, there’s but one thing nearly all of us are looking forward to— that is holidays. For a Victorian citizen, it may not be a cheerful affair as the number of public holidays hasn’t gone up. But thankfully it hasn’t gone down either, so one should expect the same holidays as the previous year— with some minor changes. Curious? The aforementioned holidays are accurate during the time of publication; but could be a subject to change depending on the Victorian council.

Important Notes:

• Due to the New year’s day falling on Sunday, the Victorian council has offered Monday as an additional holiday.
• The Friday before the AFL finale usually falls around the last Friday in September. At the time of writing this blog, there hasn’t been an exact date available. So we’ll update it on the release of the 2023 AFL schedule.
• Melbourne Cup day is a fixed public holiday across Victoria but the date could be subject to changes.
• Good Friday, ANZAC Day and Christmas Day are all restricted trading days.
