South Australia must feel generous with the holidays as the number of public holidays for southern Australia is larger than West Australia by a slight margin. The aforementioned holidays are accurate during the time of publication; but could be subjected to change depending on the South Australia official changes.
Important Notes:
- Due to the New year’s day falling on Sunday, the following Monday is also added as an additional public holiday.
- Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve are part day public holidays, from 7 PM -12 midnight.

So those were the updated holidays for 2023 and as you can see, there are approximately 3 days worth holiday around Christmas. Good enough to travel around to meet family and friends I reckon, but other than that, the South Australian calendar has more consecutive holidays than the West Australian calendar. So if you’re planning a trip, being in South Australia will come rather handy.
