Public holidays in South Australia for 2023

Taking a break is one thing that everyone loves and looks forward to. This is particularly why everyone looks forward to the public holidays even if the said holidays are going to be boring. South Australia must feel generous with the holidays as the number of public holidays for southern Australia is larger than West Australia by a slight margin. So as a holiday-living person do you want to know when the updated public holidays fall? Then keep reading.

Date Holiday
1 January (Sunday) New Year’s Day
2 January (Monday) New Year Holiday
26 January (Thursday) Australia Day
13 March (Monday) Adelaide Cup Day
7 April (Friday) Good Friday
8 April (Saturday) Day following Good Friday
10 April (Monday) Easter Monday
25 April (Tuesday) Anzac Day
12 June (Monday) King’s Birthday
2 October (Monday) Labour Day
24 December (Sunday) Christmas Eve *
25 December (Monday) Christmas Day
26 December (Tuesday) Proclamation Day
31 December (Sunday) New Year’s Eve *

The aforementioned holidays are accurate during the time of publication; but could be subjected to change depending on the South Australia official changes.

Important Notes:

  • Due to the New year’s day falling on Sunday, the following Monday is also added as an additional public holiday.
  • Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve are part day public holidays, from 7 PM -12 midnight.

End Note:

So those were the updated holidays for 2023 and as you can see, there are approximately 3 days worth holiday around Christmas. Good enough to travel around to meet family and friends I reckon, but other than that, the South Australian calendar has more consecutive holidays than the West Australian calendar. So if you’re planning a trip, being in South Australia will come rather handy.
