Andrew Tate banned from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter

Popular American-British kickboxer Andrew Tate is banned from Facebook and Instagram, just like Twitter, after controversial remarks made about women.

Amid the rising controversy on remarks about women on social media platforms, social media giant “Meta” has now decided to ban Andrew Tate, a professional kickboxer, from Facebook and Instagram, after the same move made by Twitter.

For the unknown, Emory Andrew Tate III, also known as Andrew Tate, is an American-British social media influencer and former professional kickboxer who first rose to prominence after appearing on the TV show Big Brother in 2016. Shortly, he was removed from the series after a video of him beating a woman outside the show surfaced online.

Recently, he was banned from Twitter for his comments that women should “carry responsibility” for being sexually attacked, which garnered a heavy backlash as extreme misogyny.

Now Meta, which officially owns Facebook and Instagram, has banned the influencer Tate for violating its policies for sharing derogatory comments and posts. It cited the reason that the kickboxing celebrity was removed due to the violation of its standards regarding harmful organisations and people.

The recent ban from prominent social media channels, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram is being welcomed by individuals and organisations that perceived Tate’s views as homophobic, sexist and racist.

Being termed as “absolute misogynist”, Tate’s videos have had millions of views. Earlier in his defence, Andrew Tate in a video said his views are realistic, and when you’re a realistic, you’re a sexist. There’s no way you can be rooted in reality and not be sexist.

He further said in one of his videos that there is “no such thing as an independent female. If I have responsibility over her, then I must have a degree of authority too”.
