Australia’s Luckiest Lottery-Winning Suburbs Revealed

Millions of players around Australia purchase at least one ticket each week, whether it be for Powerball, Oz Lotto, or the Saturday draw. They hope their lucky numbers will bring them a win that will change their lives.

However, data showing which suburbs have the most lottery wins suggests that winning the lottery could entirely depend on where you live.

According to Matt Hart of The Lott, Victoria recorded the highest division one lotto wins in the past fiscal year, with 153 totalling a staggering $467 million.

In August, the largest individual lottery winner in the previous fiscal year, a North Melbourne father who received $80 million, was helping that tally. According to Matt, he had been employed as a cleaner but had lost his job due to the pandemic limitations.

In addition to Bundaberg in Queensland, Port Macquarie in New South Wales, Frankston in Victoria, Adelaide CBD in South Australia, Hamilton Hill in Washington, Berrimah in the Top End, and Launceston in Tasmania were some of the other suburbs with significant wins, according to Matt.

Blessed Postcodes

With four division one winners, the Frankston postcode 3199 holds the record for having the most winning entries in Victoria.

The Port Macquarie postcode 2444 sold three division one winning entries in NSW and the ACT.

In Queensland, the postcodes 4740 for Rural View and Slade Point (north of Mackay) and 4670 for Bundaberg and North Bundaberg each sold three division one winning entries.

In South Australia, the division one winning entries for Adelaide’s CBD’s postcode of 5000 were sold thrice.

The Launceston and Newstead postcodes (7250) in Tasmania sold two division one-winning entries.

The largest division one prize awarded in the Northern Territory came from a retail ticket with the postcode 0828 for Berrimah in the Top End.

While in Western Australia, five division one winning entries were sold under the postcode 6163, which encompasses the neighbourhoods of Hamilton Hill, Yangebub, and Spearwood.
